The original 3448, produced from 1962 to 1981, holds a special place in horological history as the world’s first self-winding perpetual calendar wristwatch produced in series. Featuring a 37.5 mm case — considered large for its time — the watch combined cutting-edge technical innovation with elegant design. While most examples were made in yellow gold, rare versions in white gold, rose gold, and platinum make this reference especially prized among collectors.

Only about 586 pieces were produced over two decades, contributing to its rarity and desirability. Known affectionately as the “Padellone” (Italian for “big frying pan”) due to its wide, flat case, the 3448 commands strong demand at international auctions, particularly in its rarer metals.
