An extremely rare, unpolished, just serviced, First owner 1964 Universal Geneve Tri-Compax Chronograph "Eric Clapton" Panda Dial MK1 reference 881101/01. Also the catch comes on its Original "Gay Frères" stainless steel bracelet. The watch is in good condition, showing only light signs of wear or minor scratches, which are to be expected for a piece of its age.
The 1964 Universal Genève Tri-Compax Chronograph “Eric Clapton” Panda Dial MK1 (Ref. 881101/01) is one of the most coveted vintage chronographs of the 1960s, celebrated for its elegant combination of complications and iconic reverse-panda aesthetic. Produced during the golden era of Universal Genève, the watch features a silver-white dial with four contrasting black subdials, a full calendar with day, date, and month displays, a moonphase indication, and a column-wheel chronograph powered by the renowned manual-wind Calibre 281. Measuring approximately 36 mm in stainless steel, the MK1 version is distinguished by its blue chronograph hands, details highly prized by collectors. The model earned its “Eric Clapton” nickname because the legendary guitarist was frequently photographed wearing one during the mid-1960s while performing with Cream, cementing its place in both horological and rock-and-roll history. Combining technical sophistication, balanced design, and exceptional rarity, the 881101/01 remains one of the most desirable Tri-Compax references ever produced and a benchmark for vintage complicated chronographs.
